It is very possible to meet some circumstances that might be too hard for you to handle but it is never too late to find a way out of it.
Dear Teacher, here are few roles you can add up to your ways of teaching.
1. Identify your ability
Get to know what you are capable of doing as a teacher. Ensure the right space and field is available. Are you sure the subject you are teaching is your main interest? Where there is no passion, there will be tension! Identify your ability as this will make your teaching very easy with no stress.
2. Identify your students
A good teacher must be able to tell about his or her students. This is the time to know your subject either present or absent in class, responding or not to activities or assignments… Be able to understand their weakness and strength. Help them to solve their difficulty and explain to them using an easy format, if available and if not, take your time to explain to them till they understand. It is your responsibility to ensure they do well in their study. Leave no stone unturned. Accommodate them, be free with them and be available for them to talk to you.
3. Sometimes you need to spare the rod.
Every student has a special way of learning. Some are slow to learn, some are a bit faster while some are quick to learn. As a teacher, you need to know your students and ensure you take your time to appreciate each of their conditions rightly. Using the cane all the time to correct them for their wrong isn’t always advisable. Sometimes, you need to encourage them. Take it easy with them and correct them nicely. They will be proud of you anytime any day. Be patient. Guess what! Only a successful teacher deserves praise.
4. Act as an instructor.
Guidelines need to be provided to guide the students. Make sure they follow every instruction and it helps them academically. As an instructor, your job is to provide enough concentration, time, instructions, a listening ear, teaching skills, games of learning, and lots more to build their potential, values, skills, reasoning…
5. Build a relationship
There is a need for an easy connection between the teacher and the students. Get along with them easily. Do well to recognize their parents and as well share the records of their children with them. You can as well give them tips on how to encourage their children to do well at home. Some students need extra training to help them do effectively, so that is why you need to inform their parents of their assessment. Be friendly with them. Give them assignments to work on. You can as well pair them in groups so they can easily grow and learn together.
Those five tips up there will surely do well to help you become a successful teacher. A successful student will surely love to thank his or her teacher who helped him or her become successful. Therefore, work on the roles to become a better teacher.
