The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) has announced the opening of applications for the 2022 TEF Entrepreneurship Programme, in which African entrepreneurs from 54 countries can apply for $5,000 in seed funding for their business ideas or current enterprises that are less than five years old.
On the 2022 edition of the program, they will also receive mentorship, business management training, and other benefits, according to a statement from the organization.

Since 2015, the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme – Africa’s only African-funded entrepreneurship – has provided non-returnable seed capital of $5,000, 12 weeks of business management training, access to experienced mentors, and membership in Africa’s largest entrepreneurial ecosystem to 15,847 African entrepreneurs.
TEF distributed $24.75 million to 5,000 African entrepreneurs across Africa for the program’s 2021 edition last year.

“My company is based in Kaduna, Nigeria’s northernmost city. In 2015, I profited from this program, which opened up many doors and chances for me. The program intrigues me not simply because of the seed capital, but also because of the knowledge.”
Her company has expanded to the point where she now employs ten full-time employees and another eight on a commission basis.

Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu, TEF’s CEO, stated in a statement, “We are constantly blown away by the level of firms that arrive from Africa every year.” This encourages us to step up our efforts to empower even more African entrepreneurs.”
